Due to economic uncertainties,
at the current time the Foundation plans to make more limited grants
for timely, core needs of arts organizations. Proposals for new programs
or expansion activities will not be accepted, unless they are vital
to the organization’s health. The main priority for the near future
will be mid-sized arts organizations.
Periodically grants which exceed the
scope of the Small Grants Program are made to groups with budgets greater
than $750,000. The project must clearly demonstrate potential for broad
and long-term impact on the local community and the art form involved.
This might involve: facility access or use, community-wide program initiatives,
or exceptional artistic projects. Not eligible are capital campaigns
over $1 million and endowment campaigns. Grants normally do not exceed
$25,000.
Applicants to the Special Arts Grants
category should sumit the application
form and required attachments: project budget, organizational budget,
last year's financial statement, board list with affiliations, and brief
supporting materials.
To apply, contact the Foundation’s Executive Director well in
advance of the two annual application deadlines -- January 15 and July
15 – to approve submission of a grant proposal. This contact can
be made by phone or email.
As of the July 15, 2009 application deadline,
the Fleishhacker Foundation will require applicants to submit financial
information through the California Cultural Data Project. Organizations
should contact the CCDP at www.caculturaldata.org to register and complete
their informational profiles, or call 866 9-CAL-CDP.
